This control peptide consists of the synthetic peptide (aa 67-90 of rat SGT 2) that has been used for immunization. It has been tested in preadsorption experiments and blocks efficiently and specifically the corresponding signal in Western blots. The amount of peptide needed for efficient blocking depends on the titer and on the affinity of the antibody to the antigen. |

Two isoforms of Small glutamine-rich tetratricopeptide repeat-containing proteins (SGTs) have been described. SGT 1 also named aSGT or SGT a is ubiquitously expressed whereas SGT 2 also known as bSGT or SGT b predominatly occurs in brain. SGTs are cochaperones of heat shock cognate protein of 70 kDa (Hsc70).
