Background

In yeast the class C Vacuole protein sorting (VPS) proteins comprising VPS 11, 16, 18 and 33 interact with SNARE and Rab proteins to "tether" vacuolar membranes before fusion.
Two isoforms VPS 33A and B have been identified so far.
