Mitochondria
Mitochondrial enzymes are compartmentalized inside the mitochondria, either in the matrix, the inner mitochondrial membrane, or the intermembrane space. Their separation from cytosolic enzymes allows the cell to regulate pathways independently and maintain different concentrations of metabolites, cofactors, and ions in each compartment.
