100 µg purified IgG, lyophilized. Albumin and azide were added for stabilization. For reconstitution add 100 µl H2O to get a 1mg/ml solution in PBS. Then aliquot and store at -20°C to -80°C until use. Antibodies should be stored at +4°C when still lyophilized. Do not freeze! |
| Applications | |
| Clone | SY-338A5 |
| Immunogen | Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding (AA 350) of mouse BCAS1 (UniProt Id: Q80YN3) |
| Reactivity |
Reacts with: mouse (Q80YN3), rat (Q3ZB98). No signal: human (O75363-1). Other species not tested yet. |
| Specificity | Antibody detects mouse BCAS1 isoforms with uniprot IDs Q80YN3 and F7BNZ5. It does not detect isoforms E9Q8Q5 and A2AVX1. It detects rat isoforms Q3ZB98-3, -4, -5 and -5 and -6 and is negative for isoforms -1 and -2. |
| Remarks |
IHC: Antigen retrieval with citrate buffer pH 6 can be applied to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. |

Breast carcinoma-amplified sequence 1 (BCAS1) was originally identified as a potential oncogene amplified in human cancer cell lines (1). It is also highly expressed in brain (2) where it mainly defines an oligodendroglial subpopulation occuring at regions of active myelin formation (3).
In fetal brain BCAS1 positive oligodendrocytes are restricted to the white matter. In adult brains they persist in the grey matter until old age (3).
