Background

UBE 3B is an E3 ubiquitin ligase and accepts ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin conjugating enzyme in the form of a thioester and then transfers it to targeted substrates.
Loss of function mutations of this protein are associated with Kaufman oculocerebrofacial syndrome.
