Pre-Synaptic Proteins

Neurons communicate with each other via synapses. The pre-synaptic bouton at the end of an axon is filled with neurotransmitter loaded synaptic vesicles. When action potentials are received a complex molecular machinery controls the regulated release of neurotransmitter molecules into the synaptic cleft where they find their corresponding receptor molecules on the post-synaptic side.
