The cytoskeleton in eukaryotes consists of three major groups: microfilaments, microtubules and intermediate filaments. Synaptic Systems offers excellent antibodies against members of all groups. Vimentin and Peripherin 1, both type III intermediate filaments, are new members of this group. Peripherin 1, also referred to as Neurofilament 4, is mainly expressed in the peripheral nervous system but can also be detected in distinct neuronal subpopulations of the CNS for instance, in the pontine cholinergic nuclei. The Guinea pig polyclonal Peripherin 1 antibody shows superior results in IHC and IHC-P applications. The other intermediate filament antibody is directed against Vimentin. It is a chicken antibody and excellently suited for co-staining experiments.
HistoSure, the branch we especially developed for immunohistopathology, has a new prominent member. We now offer CAL2 an antibody against a neoepitope present in all Calreticulin mutations linked to primary myelofibrosis (PMF) and essential thrombocythaemia (ET). This antibody is the standard antibody to detect this pathologies.
We also added a rabbit antibody against Neurexophilin 3, a ligand of Neurexin believed to play a role in neurotransmitter release, to our portfolio.
