Immunofluorescence labeling of a hippocampal neuron (24 DIV) transfected with eGFP to outline dendritic morphology. The micrograph shows a segment of a dendrite. Anti-VGAT (dilution 1 : 1000) was used in combination with goat anti-rabbit Alexa 350 (Molecular Probes, Eugene, OR). The antibody labels GABAergic nerve terminals (blue) that form synapses with a postsynaptic neuron (green) preferably on the shaft of the dendrite and on the base of dendritic spines.
