CASK
A MAGUK family protein of the pre-synaptic active zone
General Information
CASK, like
PSD 95, belongs to the family of
membrane
associated
guanylate
kinase homologues (MAGUKs) but contains an additional N-terminal CaM kinase-like domain.
It has been shown to interact with
Mint and
Velis via its N-terminal domains. PDZ domains are present in all three proteins of the complex. They are free to recruit other proteins like
neurexins and syndecans.
The complex of CASK, Velis and Mint is conserved across kingdoms and has also been observed in
C. elegans.
